Greene County district court, week ending May 8

In Greene County district court Derrick Charles Beckner, 41, of Crystal, MN, was granted a deferred judgment May 6 after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year, and he must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment. A judgment was entered for a $430 civil penalty. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)

Phillip Harry Odin, 52, of Rippey was granted a deferred judgment after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault causing injury or mental illness. He was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year, and he must complete a batterers’ treatment program. He is also now prohibited from possessing, shipping, transporting or receiving firearms, offensive weapons or ammunition. A judgment was entered for a $105 civil penalty and he must also pay a $90 domestic abuse assault surcharge. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Issiaha Keegel, 29, of Grand Junction was sentenced to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operate a motor vehicle without owner’s consent. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation to the Iowa Department of Correctional Services for two years. He was fined $85 with a $128.2 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay restitution not to exceed $250 for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $181.80. A charge of theft- fifth degree against older individual was dismissed. Franklin Leodan Aguilar, 22, of Jefferson was sentenced to 179 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. The jail sentence was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He was fined 4855 with a $128.2 surcharge. He must pay an amount not to exceed $250 for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $240. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Karen Gay LeClaire, 64, of Scranton was sentenced to 30 days in jail after she pleaded guilty to a charge of disorderly conduct, amended from domestic abuse assault- injury or mental illness. The jail term was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. She was fined $105 with a $15.75 surcharge. Court costs were $60. (Sentencing: McCarville)

Cases were initiated in Greene County district court as follows: Braden Gersema, 19, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana; Yvonne Marie Locke, 51, of Jefferson, possession of marijuana and gathering where marijuana is used; Robert Dean Olson, 48, of Fort Dodge, possession of burglars’ tools, and in a separate case, burglary- second degree; Monica Lynn Volquartsen, 28, of Fort Dodge, possession of burglars’ tools, and in a separate case, burglary- third degree; and Ryan James Brown, 53, of Jefferson, driving while license barred.
